Sunrises like this every morning as my watch ends isn’t a bad way to end the day.

With temperatures below freezing, it’s sure nice to not have any cargo to work for te next few days. We are waiting in Charleston, SC atleast until the 16 to load if not later.
00-08 port watches make for the perfect time to finish up any chart work, voyage planning or log entries when nobody is awake except you. Can’t wait to get into town.

We made the return from Brasil safely, even though the last 6 days consisted of 20-30kts of head wind, 18ft seas and LOTS of reduced speed days. it’ll be a few weeks in the CONUS loading up for the next trip to Saudi Arabia, garbage compared to South America. It’s 31 days at sea to get there, that’s a long time on a 400ft ship.
Upon landing at the Rio airport I spotted this amazing clock, old-school ticker style like it hasn’t been changed since the 60′s and judging by the tile it may not have.

This morning I got a nice suprise with my breakfast, a concussion boom. I ran outside to find the results of a chemical plant explosion roughly 2 miles away. The sirens were already blaring in route within 30seconds. The tank stored Toluene, but with the wind blowing so hard it was dispersed and not as dangerous as people believed.

Hospital said NO FLYING so we had to drive from Charleston. Crossing the state line

With reflagging a vessel comes endless drills, certificate checks, testing equipment and anything else you can imagine. The latest entry into the American Fleet…Ocean Charger.

Finished my last night of freedom with the fam eating Mexican food and ritas.
Saturday morning caught the new shape and told the Philipino crew goodbye as we took it over. Their bags sitting on the dock.

Got to taste Little Big’s for the first time. Order in Threes. Chicken, beef and shroom sliders made fresh daily on homemade rolls. They just hit the spot along with homeMade milkshakes, Saint Arnolds beer and a huge selection of wine.

Happened to stumble across these 2 bags in my parents garage which I’ve never seen before. The brown one was empty so I loaded up my gear into bc its much cooler than the Pelican case. But the black bag was filled with a jewel….a Polaroid 430 with all of the manuals and film. We’ll see if I can figure it out. Stay tuned for photos.

90 miles worth of billboards from Houston to Lulling all about beaver. Make the stop because it’s not just gas and bathrooms, it’s an experience…Bucees
