Why the heck not? It’s Texas and it’s festival season. Beer, everything fried, every kind of food possible made of alligator, alligator hunting and TX country. All in all it was a successful Saturday.

When you fall behind, answer back with a homer with 2 men on base. Astros game this past Monday was a good time followed by a first time trip to Anvil bar & lounge. They make cocktails the way they should be done, just like Prohibition.

This past weekend marked the 5th Annual Emma Long camp out. That’s half a decade right there. Beer, girls, wakeboards, jet skis, booze cruises, rope swings, cove parties and more. Too many good stories to talk about.

Kim and I are getting married in November. While I was at sea she took everything we talked about and picked out the most epic spot for us to get hitched and I finally got to see it. But before that we hit up Austin with some good friends for a little cafe.

Built in 1878, Gruene Hall is the oldest continually running dance hall in Texas. Slowly resisting change the town of Gruene Hall is a landmark in this state. Come on in through the screen door, take a seat with a cold beer or slide around the dancefloor. Things here are no different than 1878, literally. The wood is smooth as glass from the millions of boots that have scooted across it and up front you can still cool off from the scorching TX heat with a cold beer under the ceiling fans. No windows, no AC, just like 1878. FLICKR
