We made the return from Brasil safely, even though the last 6 days consisted of 20-30kts of head wind, 18ft seas and LOTS of reduced speed days. it’ll be a few weeks in the CONUS loading up for the next trip to Saudi Arabia, garbage compared to South America. It’s 31 days at sea to get there, that’s a long time on a 400ft ship.
Upon landing at the Rio airport I spotted this amazing clock, old-school ticker style like it hasn’t been changed since the 60′s and judging by the tile it may not have.

After a 4 month recovery I’m finally headed back to work. Rio Brasil bound. Tchau see yall in March

13 days to drive 3000km wasn’t as bad as we thought. The only regret was that we didn’t have more time for the country. New Zealand we’ll return.

There are loads on Facebook if you’re my friend or check the selections on Flickr.

Highest bungee in New Zealand and we took our turn. You could probably do math problems on the way down its so long.

Finished my last night of freedom with the fam eating Mexican food and ritas.
Saturday morning caught the new shape and told the Philipino crew goodbye as we took it over. Their bags sitting on the dock.

Setting sail Saturday. Had to jump back to work early in order to get off in time for the November wedding, its kind of a big deal. Catching the ship in Houston for reflagging stuff, then to Charleston for cargo load and then the long journey to Mumbai, India. Yep another 30something day transit. Perhaps through the Suez canal, perhaps around South Africa, either way we’re going through Pirate waters. Its a long trip thats all I know.worldMap copy

When Somalis chase after your 15knot ship at 30knots shooting AKs and RPG’s, its reassuring to know your company paid a few extra dollars for some beefy security. Merchant ships are completely defenseless on the open oceans, unable to carry weapons so without the security team we are left with fire hoses against bullets and projectiles. I got to play badASS for a few minutes.IMG_0475IMG_0476IMG_0477IMG_0478
